The History of Gemin-i...
Africa Bookcase (the previous name for Gemin-i.org) was founded in 1997 by Henry Warren and Marsha Catchpole, both of whom had visited Africa during their year out before university. The charity was founded with the core aims of facilitating education in the developing world and providing a basis for continued multilateral & bilateral aid through the promotion of development awareness in UK schools
What they do...
Gemin-i offer innovative solutions to improve education in the developing and developed worlds. As an organisation we work at bridging cultural, religious and digital divides between disparate people around the world. We also specialise in using technology to give a voice to those who rarely have one, raising their concerns with policy makers and ensuring they are adequately represented. We want to instigate conversation, breaking down cultural myths and stereotypes in order to reduce conflict (of which there are too many current examples) and promote peace and understanding (which we feel is at an all time low).
